About
HowTypicalAmI is a small site that lets you compare a personal stat against a public-data percentile distribution and share the result.
It exists because most "average X" headlines are misleading — averages don't capture how skewed real-world distributions are. A percentile is the more honest comparison: it tells you how many people are above and below you, not just how far you are from a single number.
What's here today
- A growing list of metrics (salary, sleep, screen time, rent, daily steps — and counting).
- Country-aware distributions for 8+ countries; 25 supported languages.
- An optional account that lets you keep a history of your results and join private leagues with friends.
- A weekly email digest of fresh metrics and trends.
Roadmap
What we're working on next:
- Replacing the current approximated buckets with directly-sourced data from BLS, ACS, OECD, and CDC.
- 50+ new metrics across finance, health, lifestyle, work, social and digital.
- A "typicality score" that combines five metrics into one shareable result.
- An iOS / Android app.
