What is HowTypicalAmI?
HowTypicalAmI shows you where you stand. Enter a personal number, such as your salary, hours of sleep, screen time, rent or daily steps, and you instantly see which percentile you fall in for your age and country. Every result is a card you can share.
The app is free. There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases: every feature is available to everyone.
Frequently asked questions
How are percentiles computed?
For each metric and country we keep a small table of published reference values at the 1st, 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, 95th and 99th percentiles, taken from public sources such as the US BLS, US Census, CDC NHANES, OECD, HUD and Our World in Data. When you enter a value we find the two reference points around it and interpolate between them. We never report 0% or 100%.
If we have no data for your exact age band or country, we fall back in this order: your age in your country, all ages in your country, your age in the US, then all ages in the US. The methodology page has the full details and the data sources page lists every source.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: open Settings, tap Delete account and confirm. How you confirm depends on how you signed up:
- Email and password: enter your password. That's all that's needed.
- Sign in with Apple or Google: there's no password, so you confirm by typing
DELETE.
Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke the app's access to your Apple ID.
On the web: sign in, open your account page and use Delete my account at the bottom. The same rule applies: your password if you have one, otherwise type DELETE.
By email: write to support@howtypicalami.com from the email address on your account with the subject "Delete my account". We'll confirm the request came from you, delete the account within 30 days and reply when it's done.
Deleting your account removes your profile, sign-in sessions, device tokens and personal app data (for example predictions, life events, Twin Finder and Daily Pulse activity). Numbers you submitted stay in the anonymous statistics with the link to your account removed, so they can no longer be tied to you.
How do I report a user?
In the app, use Report next to the person's name, profile or message. Choose a reason (offensive name, harassment, spam or something else) and add details if you like. You can also email support@howtypicalami.com with the person's display name and what happened.
We review reports within 24 hours and remove content or accounts that break our terms. Offensive display names are blocked automatically when they're set.
What data do you keep, and is it shared?
- The numbers you submit are used to compute percentiles and, in aggregate, to improve the statistics. They are never shown alongside your name or email.
- If you create an account we keep your email, display name, country and language preferences. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash.
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't track you across other apps or sites.
- You can download a copy of your data from the app's settings or your account page.
The privacy policy covers everything in detail.
